Can you tell me which product is best for removing imbedded mud from carpet? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Mud always response best with allowed to dry. Don't smear it into the carpet when wet. Always start with a straight vertical vacuum. Then aggressively prevacuum. Another words, don't use a beater bar on a vacuum cleaner to smear the mud around. I always like my Fantastic Four:
Prespray with Powerhouse mixed with Kryponite and water.
Agitate and rinse with Flush and hot water.
Post apply Dry Cleaning Solution, agitate and re-rinse.
These chemicals will take out 99% of everything you come across.
