What do you recommend for those stubborn spots rhat remain after cleaning? I seem to see these on apartment carpets mostly. I prespray and scrub then extract. I use a high Ph spray that gets the carpets cleaned, but the unidentified spots (about 20 to 30% of the time) remain.

95% of all your remaining spots can be removed with Dry Cleaning Solution (http://www.steam-brite.com/store/cleaning-solution-gallon-p-270.html).
This works best if you heat the spot up with your steam and suction, then apply with a trigger sprayer or flip top bottle. Agitate and re-rinse.
