Generator Copper Grounding Terminal for 14 awg to #6 wire

Instructions:

Take and cut off both the male plug and female plug off both sides of the extension power cord.
Strip back all three wires about 5/16 of an inch off both sides. Twist all 3 wires together on one side and install/ secure to the replacement green screw inside of the 5-15 Plug. Do not install any wires to the gold or silver screw as you are only going to secure all 3 wires to the green screw.
On the other side of the extension cord take all 3 wires and secure into the copper grounding terminal that you then secure to the grounding screw to your generator. You can optionally install some heat shrink over the grounding terminal and only leave the eyelet exposed.
When you are at your job site, plug this newly attached 5-15 Plug into the wall while the other side of this cord is attached to your generator.

Your goal it to have all three wires inside of this extension cord secure the generator grounding to the ground of your job site. Your job site grounding pin on the wall will already be secured/grounded to the plumbing, natural gas line and electrical grounding rod for this job site. This is referred to as "generator bonding." This does not use or consume any electricity from the job site rather is just providing a path of least resistance in the event you have a ground fault. The idea behind a ground is that the ground becomes the path of least resistance instead of a human.

Please note that the generator ground will only be as good as the weakest link in the system so if the job site ground on the outlet is poor, your generator grounding will be poor. Read more about generator grounding and bonding on this OSHA document.
