Clean Storm 20220920 Chevy Silverado EV Level 2 Travel Box Power Supply Electric Car Charger Dual 20amp 120volt To 240volt 14-50R

Description

Clean Storm 20220920 Chevy Silverado EV Level 2 Travel Box Power Supply is an innovative 120V to 240V power cord adapter inverter (reverse converter) engineered to supply fast 240V power anywhere standard dual 120V outlets are accessible. By combining two independent 120V circuits operating on opposing electrical phases, this high-performance power supply unit provides up to 20 amps at 240 volts (under 4,800 watts) of single-phase current directly to a heavy-duty NEMA 14-50R receptacle. Designed specifically for portable Level 2 EV charging—including the Chevy Silverado EV, Chevy Bolt, Blazer EV, Equinox EV, and Tesla vehicles—this travel box eliminates the need for expensive dedicated 240V hardwired installations while doubling your available charging wattage compared to standard 120V factory cords. In addition to electric vehicle charging, it serves as an indispensable remote power solution for 240V equipment such as industrial pressure washers, welders, plasma cutters, vapor steam cleaners, and commercial carpet extractors on job sites lacking native 240V plugs.

Features

• High-output dual 12-3 x 25 ft heavy-duty power cords providing extended reach to access distinct electrical circuits across job sites or residential settings.
• Triple 20-amp integrated push-button circuit breakers designed for reliable overcurrent protection and system safety.
• Integrated green light voltage notification and confirmation system to verify proper dual-phase 220V–240V electrical connection prior to operation.
• Advanced shock-prevention technology that maintains electrical isolation on the open male plug until both 120V power cords are fully connected to a power source.
• Durable, jobsite-ready 6" x 6" x 4" enclosure fitted with non-marking rubber feet for stable, anti-slip placement on any surface.
• Heavy-duty NEMA 14-50R output receptacle engineered to accept high-draw Level 2 EVSE charging cables and industrial 240V equipment plugs.

Applications

• Electric vehicle Level 2 mobile charging for Chevy Silverado EV, Bolt EV, Bolt EUV, Equinox EV, Blazer EV, and Volt.
• Level 2 charging compatibility for Tesla Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck via NEMA 14-50 adapter connectors.
• Broad EV and PHEV compatibility across Audi e-Tron, BMW i-Series, Ford Mustang Mach-E/F-150 Lightning, Hyundai Ioniq, Kia EV6/Niro, Nissan Leaf, Rivian R1T/R1S, Porsche Taycan, and Volkswagen ID.4 models.

Tips and Additional Information

To successfully generate 240V power, the two 120V power cords must be plugged into outlets sourced from separate electrical phases (one left phase breaker and one right phase breaker in your panel). After plugging in both cords, depress the momentary voltage testing button on the box: a bright green light confirms you have achieved proper dual-phase line voltage (220V–240V) and are ready to connect your load. If the light does not illuminate, relocate one power cord to a different outlet on a separate circuit. Note that this unit will not function on GFCI or LDCI protected 120V outlets; standard non-GFCI receptacles must be utilized. Always test wall outlets with a 3-wire receptacle polarity tester (such as part 20100823) prior to connection. When using adjustable Level 2 chargers, manually set the charging draw to 16 amps @ 240 volts (or match your source circuit rating) to prevent tripping supply breakers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the phase locator test button work on the Clean Storm travel box?

The momentary push button tests line-to-line voltage across both plugged-in power cords. When both cords land on opposite electrical phases (220V–240V potential), a bright green LED light illuminates to confirm proper installation. If the light remains unlit, both cords are on the same phase and one must be moved to another outlet circuit.

Q: Why can't I use this power supply on GFCI or LDCI protected outlets?

GFCI and LDCI outlets monitor current imbalance between hot and neutral wires. Combining two separate 120V legs to form a 240V circuit trips the internal sensing mechanisms of GFCI breakers. The unit must be used on standard, non-GFCI wall receptacles.

Q: Can I charge my Tesla using this travel box adapter?

Yes. Connect your Tesla Mobile Connector with the NEMA 14-50 adapter to the box's 14-50R outlet. You must manually lower the charge current on the Tesla onboard display or app to 16 amps at 240 volts (from the 32A default) to ensure safe continuous operation and avoid tripping 20A supply breakers.

Q: How much faster is Level 2 charging with this box compared to standard 120V wall outlets?

Standard factory EV cords supply 120V at 16A (1,920W). Utilizing this reverse converter at 240V and 16A provides 3,840W—delivering 100% faster charging speeds. When operating on dual 20A supply circuits up to 4,800W, charging capability increases significantly over trickle charging.

Customer Reviews & Testimonials

"I primarily purchased the converter box solely for charging my Tesla vehicle when I find myself visiting friends or family whom do not have a 220v outlet I can use. The converter purchased from your website has been extremely convenient, I simply keep it in my trunk, so I always have it when I need it. The cords are extremely long, and the charge time is significantly shorter than a regular 110v outlet; I would definitely recommend this product to others. Thanks." — Jared, Moreno Valley, CA

"I use this to power my portable EVSE (with a 32 amp adjustable EV Car charging cable). I recently got an electric Genesis GV60 and picked up the power joiner to hold me over until the electrician could install a 14-50r. Now I keep it in the car in case I need to charge while at my girlfriends or visiting friends or family. Product works great once you find a matching pair of sockets. I've used it on 15 and 20 amp circuits and have had no issues." — Lawrence

Warranty & Safety Information

Includes a standard 1-year manufacturer warranty, with optional 2-year or 4-year extended coverage plans available. Warranty coverage requires strict adherence to operating parameters and proper phase testing before load connection. Operating the unit in excess of 20 amps continuous draw at 240 volts (4,800 watts max), attempting connection to GFCI/LDCI circuits, overriding safety breakers, operating with damaged power cords, or failing to verify proper 3-wire polarity on source receptacles will void the manufacturer warranty. Users must ensure supply circuit ampacity supports the selected load draw prior to operation.
