The HydraMaster TreadMaster 100-100-003 is a specialized automatic cleaning machine designed for escalators and horizontal moving walkways with tread widths generally ranging from 37 to 40 inches.
Instead of requiring employees to manually scrub every escalator step, the TreadMaster remains positioned at the bottom of the escalator while the moving steps pass through its cleaning head. A nylon-grit brush loosens soil from the tread grooves, the built-in vacuum collects loosened debris, and a polishing pad finishes the top surface of the tread.
This self-contained system is ideal for airports, shopping centers, hotels, hospitals, convention centers, office buildings, transit facilities, schools, casinos, factories, and other facilities that maintain escalators or moving walkways.
First-time or heavily soiled escalators may require an extended cleaning period. HydraMaster recommends allowing approximately one hour for an initial cleaning to obtain optimum results. Actual cleaning time will vary depending on soil level, tread condition, escalator length, and maintenance history.
The weighted cleaning head fits into the escalator tread and uses three stages to improve the tread appearance:
Package contents and specifications are subject to factory change. Purchase fulfillment is based on manufacturer part number 100-100-003.
The cleaning head must be correctly matched to your escalator. Measure only the usable flat tread surface that the cleaning head will contact.
Please provide Steam-Brite with the exact measured tread width before the order is released to the factory.
The TreadMaster is primarily designed to clean the horizontal tread surface. It does not automatically clean every portion of the escalator.
Is this machine completely automatic? Once it is correctly positioned, secured, adjusted, and started, the moving escalator carries each step through the cleaning head. An operator must still perform the setup, secure the work area, monitor operation, and follow all safety procedures.
Will this fit every 40-inch escalator? Not necessarily. Nominal escalator sizes and actual tread dimensions can differ. The exact usable tread width must be measured before ordering.
Can the same machine clean different tread widths? The base housing can work with compatible interchangeable head assemblies, but each cleaning head must be correctly sized for the escalator being cleaned. Additional head assemblies are sold separately.
Does it clean painted escalator steps? Painted or coated escalator surfaces may require a compatible soft brush rather than the standard nylon-grit brush. Confirm the escalator manufacturer’s cleaning requirements before use. Optional brushes may be sold separately.
Does the machine wash the escalator with water? No. The primary process uses mechanical brushing, vacuum collection, and polishing. Approved spot-cleaning products may be used for oily or sticky contamination according to the chemical and escalator manufacturers’ instructions.
How long does one escalator take to clean? Cleaning time depends on the length of the escalator, soil level, tread condition, and how frequently it has been maintained. First-time cleaning may require the machine to operate for an hour or longer.
Can it clean moving sidewalks? Yes, the TreadMaster is designed for compatible horizontal moving walkways when equipped with the correctly sized head and operated according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Is this machine kept in stock? These units are generally built to order because the cleaning head must be sized for the customer’s escalator. Production and shipping times should be confirmed before ordering.
The HydraMaster TreadMaster is custom-built or configured using the tread measurement supplied by the purchaser. Confirm the part number, voltage, tread width, jobsite electrical service, delivery requirements, and intended application before ordering.
Custom-built and special-order equipment may not be cancelable or returnable after the factory begins production. Freight charges, redelivery fees, residential delivery charges, liftgate service, limited-access fees, and other carrier services may be additional.
Inspect the shipment before signing the delivery receipt. Note any shortage, visible damage, crushed packaging, punctures, or suspected concealed damage on the carrier’s delivery receipt before accepting the shipment.
