THIS PACKAGE CONTAINS FIVE IDENTICAL 20-INCH CHEETAH STEP 1 PADS. IT IS NOT A COMPLETE STEP 1–4 SET.
The Innovative Surface Solutions CP20S1 Cheetah Pad package contains five professional 20-inch Step 1 pads for restoring and refinishing compatible marble, travertine, limestone, cement terrazzo and polished-concrete floors.
Cheetah Step 1 is the aggressive opening stage of the Cheetah stone and concrete restoration system. According to Innovative Surface Solutions, the Step 1 pad provides cutting action comparable to traditional 50-, 100-, 200- and 400-grit diamond steps. It is designed to cut aggressively while leaving a scratch pattern comparable to a traditional 400-grit diamond.
Package Contents
- Five Innovative Surface Solutions 20-inch Cheetah Step 1 pads
This package does not include:
- Cheetah Step 2 pads
- Cheetah Step 3 pads
- Cheetah Step 4 pads
- 11,000-grit Monkey finishing pads
- Floor machine or planetary machine
- Pad driver
- Weights, chemicals, densifier or protective treatments
Compatible Floor Surfaces
Cheetah Pads are designed for professional restoration and polishing of compatible:
- Marble
- Travertine
- Limestone
- Cement terrazzo
- Polished concrete
Always inspect and test the pad on a small, inconspicuous area before processing the entire floor. Results and the number of required steps can vary according to the material, hardness, existing finish, damage and desired appearance.
What Cheetah Step 1 Does
Step 1 is intended for the initial cutting and restoration stage. It may be used to address wear, surface damage and an uneven or deteriorated finish before progressing to finer Cheetah steps.
Innovative Surface Solutions describes the Step 1 cutting range as replacing traditional:
- 50-grit diamonds
- 100-grit diamonds
- 200-grit diamonds
- 400-grit diamonds
The pad is designed to cut similarly to an aggressive 50-grit traditional diamond while leaving a substantially finer scratch pattern comparable to approximately 400 grit. The exact result will depend on the floor material and operating conditions.
Cheetah Polishing Sequence
The manufacturer identifies the four primary Cheetah stages as:
- Step 1: Replaces approximately 50-, 100-, 200- and 400-grit traditional diamond steps
- Step 2: Replaces approximately 200-, 400- and 800-grit steps
- Step 3: Replaces approximately 800-, 1,500- and 3,000-grit steps
- Step 4: Replaces approximately 3,000-, 8,000-grit and higher polishing steps
For maximum final color, clarity and gloss, Innovative Surface Solutions recommends finishing with an 11,000-grit Monkey Pad, sold separately.
Not every project requires every stage. The correct starting and stopping points depend on the floor’s condition, material and required finish. Softer materials may require a shorter polishing sequence, while heavily damaged floors may require additional preparation.
Designed for 20-Inch Floor Machines
These full-size 20-inch pads are designed for use with compatible professional floor equipment, including:
- Standard rotary floor machines
- Swing machines
- Orbital floor machines
- Planetary floor-polishing machines
- Compatible oscillating equipment
Innovative Surface Solutions recommends operating its 17- and 20-inch Cheetah Pads on a standard 175–300 RPM floor machine with water. Verify that the machine, pad driver and operating speed are suitable for the pad and floor being restored.
Water-Based Mechanical Restoration
Cheetah Pads use mechanical abrasion and are normally operated with water. The system is designed to reduce reliance on conventional polishing powders, pastes and crystallizers during many restoration applications.
Some limestone, travertine, cement-terrazzo and polished-concrete projects may still require an appropriate hardener, densifier or protective treatment to achieve the desired gloss and durability.
General Operating Procedure
- Sweep or vacuum the floor to remove sand and other loose abrasive soil.
- Clean the surface with a suitable stone or concrete cleaner.
- Rinse thoroughly and remove remaining cleaner or soil.
- Center the Cheetah Step 1 pad on a compatible 20-inch pad driver.
- Apply enough clean water to wet the working area without creating an unnecessarily deep puddle.
- Operate the floor machine in a controlled, overlapping pattern.
- Check the surface frequently to determine whether the required cut has been achieved.
- Overlap adjacent sections approximately 4–6 inches to maintain an even finish.
- Recover the slurry and rinse the entire area thoroughly.
- Inspect the floor before advancing to the next required polishing step.
- Rinse the pad thoroughly after use and allow it to dry completely.
Operating Tips
- Keep the pad and floor adequately lubricated with clean water.
- Use more water during aggressive cutting and less water during the higher polishing stages.
- Work in manageable sections so the slurry can be recovered before it dries.
- Check progress frequently rather than processing the floor for a fixed amount of time.
- Rinse the floor, equipment and pad thoroughly between polishing steps.
- Prevent slurry from one step from contaminating the next polishing stage.
- Test additional machine weight carefully because softer stone may not tolerate extra weight.
Important Product Selection Information
CP20S1 contains five Step 1 pads only. Order this package when you need multiple aggressive first-stage pads for commercial production work or replacement inventory.
If you need one pad from each primary Cheetah stage, select the appropriate 20-inch Cheetah Step 1–4 set. If you also need the manufacturer’s recommended final finishing pad, select the appropriate kit or purchase an 11,000-grit Monkey Pad separately.
Professional-Use Product
Stone and concrete restoration results depend on correctly identifying the floor material, coating, prior treatment and degree of damage. Improper pad selection or operating technique can alter the surface texture or appearance. Professional training and a small test area are strongly recommended before beginning the complete project.

Question: What is the difference between a Cheetah Pad and a Monkey Pad?
Answer: Cheetah Pads or more aggressive. Designed to cut through deeper scratches and is a more restorative proceedure. Monkey pads are designed to help maintain lightly damaged natural stone floors. The procedures are the same. The Cheetah pads are faster and cut deeper quicker.
