Replacement and Upgrade Information
This pump may be used as a replacement for certain older Pumptec 204V, 205V, and 207V installations when the voltage, pressure, flow, motor, mounting, electrical connections, and plumbing are compatible.
The 217V pump head uses 1/4-inch female NPT water ports. Some older Pumptec 205V and 207V pump heads use 3/8-inch female NPT ports. Up to four reducing adapters may therefore be required when converting an older machine to the 217V configuration.
Optional port adapter:
1/4-Inch Male Pipe Thread × 3/8-Inch Female Pipe Thread Brass Adapter
Do not order by appearance alone. Pumps with similar housings can have different cams, motors, port sizes, voltages, seals, regulators, pressures, and flow rates. Match the complete Pumptec part number whenever possible.
Priming Instructions
This is a positive-displacement plunger pump and must have an unrestricted water supply. Never operate the pump dry.
- Fill the machine’s fresh-water tank.
- Confirm that the inlet hose is connected, open, and free of air leaks.
- Remove the pressure hose or quick disconnect from the machine’s outlet.
- Use vacuum suction at an open solution outlet for approximately 5 to 10 seconds while the pump is running at the same time.
- Continue until water flows steadily without large air bubbles.
- Reconnect the pressure hose and test the machine.
A newly installed pump may not move water until the pump, inlet hose, heater, check valve, and related plumbing have been completely filled and the trapped air has been removed.
Pressure Adjustment
The pressure is controlled by the adjustable regulator located on the pump head. Adjust the regulator in small increments while monitoring the machine’s pressure gauge.
- Do not exceed the pressure rating of the pump, hoses, heater, fittings, cleaning tool, or machine.
- Do not operate against a completely closed outlet for extended periods.
- Do not use an oversized spray jet that overloads the motor or prevents the machine from reaching operating pressure.

Installation Notes
- Installation should be completed by a qualified equipment-repair technician.
- Disconnect electrical power before servicing the machine.
- Confirm proper grounding and electrical protection.
- Flush debris from the water tank and inlet plumbing before connecting the new pump.
- Inspect or replace clogged inlet filters and deteriorated hoses.
- Use suitable thread sealant without allowing excess material to enter the pump.
- Do not overtighten fittings into the aluminum manifold.
- Repair restrictions, leaks, defective check valves, and damaged pressure regulators before testing.
