Pumptec 204V, 205V, 207V to 217V Brass Pump Head Conversion Kit
Steam-Brite Part Number: 20161106
Application: Brass plumbing adapter kit for converting existing carpet cleaning extractor plumbing from discontinued Pumptec 204V, 205V, and 207V pump heads to the newer Pumptec 217V pump head.
When replacing an older Pumptec pump head with a Pumptec 217V, the existing water connections may not line up with the replacement pump head. This conversion kit provides the brass fittings needed to adapt the connection sizes and redirect the water inlet and outlet plumbing.
Why Is This Conversion Kit Needed?
The older Pumptec 207V pump head was manufactured with four 3/8-inch female pipe thread (FIP) water connections facing toward the rear, or motor side, of the pump assembly.
The replacement Pumptec 217V pump head uses four smaller 1/4-inch female pipe thread (FIP) water connections positioned on opposing sides of the pump head.
This creates two installation challenges:
- Different connection sizes: The original plumbing uses 3/8-inch connections, while the replacement pump head uses 1/4-inch connections.
- Different connection orientation: The original pump head connections face toward the motor, while the replacement pump head connections face outward from opposite sides.
Simply installing the replacement Pumptec 217V pump head without modifying the plumbing may prevent the original hoses and fittings from connecting properly.
The Steam-Brite 20161106 conversion bundle provides brass elbows, extensions, and a plug to help accommodate these differences.
Important: Why Are Two Brass Extensions Included?
The four 1/4-inch FIP water ports on the Pumptec 217V pump head are positioned close together.
When installing 90-degree brass elbows directly into adjacent ports, the elbows may interfere with each other and prevent proper installation or positioning.
To help resolve this clearance problem, the conversion kit includes two 1/4-inch male-to-female brass extensions.
These extensions move two of the elbow connections farther away from the pump head, providing additional clearance for installing and positioning the brass elbows.
Installation tip: Determine the correct inlet and outlet locations before installing the fittings. Use the extensions where necessary to prevent interference between adjacent elbows.
What's Included in the Conversion Kit?
This bundle includes seven brass fittings:

Total: 7 brass fittings supplied as one conversion bundle.
Why Is a Brass Pipe Plug Included?
Some carpet cleaning machines do not use all four water connections available on the pump head.
The included 1/4-inch MIP brass pipe plug can be used to close an unused 1/4-inch FIP connection when permitted by the pump manufacturer's plumbing configuration.
Important: Never plug a required inlet, outlet, bypass, or pressure-relief connection. Confirm the correct pump plumbing arrangement before installing the plug.
Compatible Pump Head Conversion Applications
This brass fitting bundle is intended for plumbing modifications associated with the following Pumptec pump head conversions:
- Pumptec 204V to Pumptec 217V
- Pumptec 205V to Pumptec 217V
- Pumptec 207V to Pumptec 217V
These applications involve replacing an older pump head with the newer 217V design and adapting the existing plumbing connections.
Note: This is a plumbing conversion fitting kit, not a complete pump conversion kit. Compatibility of the replacement pump head with the existing motor, mounting arrangement, operating pressure, and equipment must be verified separately.
Common Applications
- Professional carpet cleaning extractors
- Portable carpet cleaning machines
- Commercial upholstery cleaning equipment
- Truckmount auxiliary solution pump systems
- Equipment originally equipped with compatible Pumptec 204V, 205V, or 207V pump heads
Actual compatibility depends on the machine's pump configuration and plumbing arrangement.
Installation Recommendations
- Disconnect electrical power and relieve all water pressure before beginning work.
- Identify and label the existing inlet and outlet hoses before removing the original pump head.
- Verify the correct inlet and outlet port locations on the replacement Pumptec 217V pump head.
- Install the supplied 1/4-inch MIP x 3/8-inch FIP brass reducing elbows where required.
- Use the two 1/4-inch brass extensions where additional clearance is needed between adjacent elbows.
- Install the supplied brass pipe plug only if the manufacturer's approved plumbing configuration permits an unused port to be plugged.
- Use thread sealant suitable for the application and compatible with the pump manufacturer's recommendations.
- Avoid overtightening brass fittings or placing excessive stress on the pump head.
- Reconnect the water lines and verify that the inlet and outlet plumbing is correctly routed.
- Prime the pump as required, inspect for leaks, and verify proper operating pressure before returning the machine to service.
Important Product Information
This bundle includes brass fittings only.
The Pumptec 217V replacement pump head, electric motor, hoses, pressure switches, and other pump components are not included unless separately purchased.
Additional hoses, fittings, or mounting modifications may be necessary depending on the original machine design.
All connections should be installed according to the pump manufacturer's specifications. Verify the pressure rating and suitability of the complete plumbing system before operating the pump.
Individual Replacement Fittings
Need additional fittings or only one component from this conversion bundle?
Steam-Brite 20161106 provides a convenient collection of seven brass fittings for adapting older Pumptec pump plumbing to the newer 217V pump head configuration.
Depending on the original equipment manufacturer's plumbing arrangement, the water inlet and outlet connections on the replacement Pumptec 217V may be positioned opposite the locations required by the existing hoses.
To correct this, some installations require the pump head to be removed from the motor assembly, rotated 180 degrees, and reinstalled. This changes the physical positions of the water inlet and outlet connections relative to the equipment.
