The Shurflo 8000-541-250 is a compact, self-priming, positive-displacement diaphragm pump designed for low-pressure water transfer, misting, spraying and equipment applications. It is commonly used as the current replacement for the discontinued Shurflo 8050-293-199.

Shurflo 8000-541-250 is supplied in place of older pump number 8050-293-199. Replacement pumps may not have exactly the same appearance, wiring length, mounting pattern or operating specifications as the original pump. Compare the voltage, port size, flow requirement, pressure requirement and available mounting space before ordering.

This is a bypass pump, not an automatic demand pump.
It does not use a pressure switch to turn the motor on and off. The pump motor normally continues running while excess flow is internally bypassed when the discharge is restricted.

Before Ordering

Do not select a replacement pump only by appearance. Pumps that look similar may have different voltage, flow, pressure, port threads, bypass settings, chemical-compatible materials or duty-cycle ratings.

Please confirm all of the following:

Your equipment operates on 12 volts DC.
A bypass pump without an automatic pressure switch is appropriate.
Approximately 1.0 to 1.2 GPM provides the required flow.
A 45 PSI bypass setting is suitable for the application.
Your plumbing accepts 3/8-inch female NPT ports.
Viton valves, a Santoprene diaphragm and polypropylene housing are compatible with the liquid being pumped.

Chemical Compatibility

Pump-material compatibility is the responsibility of the purchaser. A liquid can damage the valves, diaphragm, housing or seals even when the pump initially appears to operate correctly. Chemical attack, swelling, hardening, cracking, corrosion, misuse and contamination are generally not manufacturing defects.

Flush the pump with a compatible clean liquid after use whenever chemicals, cleaners, fertilizers or other solutions are pumped. Do not allow incompatible chemicals to remain stored inside the pump.

Installation Notes

Use adequately sized wiring for the circuit length and pump amperage.
Install the manufacturer-recommended fuse near the power source.
Observe correct DC polarity.
Keep the suction hose short, airtight and free of restrictions.
Use an inlet strainer when debris may be present.
Do not use thread sealant excessively, as loose material can enter the pump.
Do not overtighten fittings into the plastic pump head.
Protect the pump from freezing.

Does this pump replace Shurflo 8050-293-199?
It is commonly supplied as the current replacement for 8050-293-199. Because the original pump is discontinued, compare the replacement specifications and installation requirements before ordering.

Does this pump shut off automatically?
No. The 8000-541-250 is an internal-bypass pump and does not use an automatic demand pressure switch.

Can this pump run continuously?
This model is generally rated for intermittent operation. Actual allowable run time depends on voltage, ambient temperature, liquid temperature, flow restriction and motor temperature.

Can the pump run dry?
The diaphragm design can tolerate limited dry running, but extended dry operation creates unnecessary heat and wear. Supply liquid to the pump as soon as possible.

Can it pump gasoline, diesel fuel or flammable liquids?
Do not use this pump for gasoline or other flammable liquids unless Shurflo expressly approves the exact model for that application. This model should not be assumed to provide ignition protection.

Are fittings included?

Which Pump Should I Buy?

Choose the 8000-541-250 if your equipment originally used a low-flow 1 GPM bypass pump and you need a compact industrial replacement.
Choose the 8000-543-250 when your application requires nearly twice the flow rate while remaining in the 8000 pump family.
Choose another 8000 Series model if you need a different voltage, pressure setting, chemical compatibility, or port configuration.
Choose a 2088 Series pump when higher flow (up to approximately 4 GPM) is required for RV water systems, larger sprayers, transfer pumps, or commercial equipment.

Important: Do not select a replacement pump by appearance alone. Many Shurflo pumps use the same housing but have different cams, motors, pressure switches, bypass valves, diaphragm materials, and flow ratings. Always match the original part number whenever possible.

*Dry-running capability means the pump can tolerate temporary operation without liquid. Extended dry operation should still be avoided to maximize diaphragm and valve life.
