Smoother Wand Movement with Less Operator Fatigue

The Hydro-Force AW524T is a replacement PTFE glide made specifically for the vacuum head on the Prochem AW24 Quad-Jet carpet-cleaning wand. The low-friction glide covers the metal vacuum lips and helps the wand move more smoothly across carpet, reducing the effort required during repetitive cleaning strokes.

By narrowing and controlling the vacuum opening at the carpet, a properly fitted glide can help maintain focused airflow and recovery while reducing wand chatter on commercial glue-down carpet. It also creates a nonmetallic contact surface between the wand head and the carpet.

Compatibility Is Determined by Wand Model and Head Shape

This is not a universal 11-inch wand glide. AW524T is formed specifically for the Hydro-Force / Prochem AW24 Quad-Jet wand. A similar overall width does not guarantee fit on another wand. Compare the wand manufacturer, model, head profile and part number before ordering.

Prochem Quad-style wands and replacement glides can vary by production version. If the wand model or head design is uncertain, send clear photographs of the front, back and vacuum lips of the wand head before purchasing.

Installation and Care

1. Turn off the extractor or truckmount and release vacuum and solution pressure.
2. Clean the wand lips and remove adhesive, fibers and debris.
3. Center the glide on the correct vacuum head and install it evenly according to the glide supplier's instructions.
4. Confirm that the glide is fully seated and secure before operating the wand.
5. After cleaning, remove fibers and debris from the recovery opening and inspect the glide for looseness, distortion or excessive wear.

Do not cut, drill, overheat or permanently alter the glide to force it onto an incompatible wand. An improperly fitted glide may loosen during use or reduce recovery performance.

One Hydro-Force AW524T PTFE replacement glide. Carpet wand, jets, valve, solution hose, quick disconnect and other parts are not included.

What is a Wand Glide?

A carpet wand glide is commonly made out of a machined bar of Teflon or Delrin. This machined bar snaps onto the cleaning head of your carpet wand and has either a holed, or slotted pattern that allows for the recovery of water when cleaning.

Why use a Wand Glide?

Cleaners use glides to:

1. Reduce friction. Glides make it so your wand moves effortlessly across carpeted surfaces. The best part of this is that you still get great suction, but with half the work!
2. Improve lift and air velocity. Putting a glide on your wand decreases the opening of your vacuum inlet. This has the effect of dramatically increasing air velocity and lift. It's no different than attaching a long skinny tube to your vacuum cleaner at home. Have you noticed that you can't pick up crumbs when using the wide 1" opening of your home vacuum extension? Attach the skinnier attachment with the smaller opening, and even though it's longer, you can pick up heavier stuff.
3. Eliminate wand chatter. This is especially important when cleaning commercial glue down. Wand glides allow you to easily push your wand on these surfaces without chatter, thus eliminating streaking.
4. Reduce damage. A glide protects both your stainless steel wand head, as well as your customer's baseboards and property.
5. Work faster. Since a wand glide makes pushing a wand so much easier, you'll feel 18 yrs. old at the end of the day instead of 81 yrs. old.

Teflon vs. Delrin?

Teflon has a much lower coefficient of friction than Delrin. In plain English, it will glide across the carpet roughly 4 x’s easier than Delrin and 16 x’s easier than steel. It is also ‘self-healing’, meaning scratches will quickly be removed from the surface during use so it always stays smooth.

Delrin will last twice as long as Teflon and is also less expensive. This is the glide for those on a tight budget. Scratches will not self-heal on Delrin and it won’t be as easy to push.
